· First Guests of M2P
Here is a picture of M2P when the addition (right wing)
was under construction (2005-2006), and nearly completed.
Our first guests were vacationing in the United States
from Germany, seeing many American landmarks.
They arrived in the Black Hills during Sturgis Motorcycle Rally
early in August of 2006,
finding to their dismay that there was no place to stay.
As they drove by our place
Nicki saw the Bed and Breakfast sign.
She asked Hans to turn around.
They walked in and requested a room.
We sadly told them that the credit card machine
had not yet been connected
and the bed had not yet been made up for the first time...
that only the gift shop was finally open...
but the suite would be open the next day.
Nicki spoke for them, as Hans knew no English.
Showing cash in their hands,
she said that they would be happy to walk downtown
and get something to eat while we get the room ready.
We asked if they would like to see the room first.
They did not feel the need.
I explained that the room was named Bluma Madle
after my German mother who was so nicknamed as a child
by her father who thought of her as his 'flower girl'.
They concurred that it was an accurate translation,
with a Bavarian touch.
And so it came to pass that our first suite was blessed
by a young couple from Germany.
